Overview

Te Tupu:  Certificate in First Line Management and Leadership provides a unique wānanga approach to foundational management education. It is informed highly by the needs of the communities that Te Wānanga o Aoteroa serves and as a result has a strong emphasis on empowerment, personal growth, confidence building and Mātauranga Māori relating to management and leadership.

The content of this programme has been driven by the needs of first line managers and team leaders in a variety of industries and has been developed to cater to diverse needs and interests, providing options for tauira to select from. In particular this programme focuses on team development, communication, process and system management and leadership.

If you are interested in moving up the ladder into a first line management or leadership role, then this programme is the first step in achieving this goal..

Career Opportunities:

On completion of this programme, tauira will have a base level of skills and knowledge in first line management and leadership. Tauira will graduate this programme better equipped not only to move onto higher level studies and employment opportunities, but also to handle the world at large with confidence and determination, whilst also contributing to enhancing our industries and communities within Aotearoa New Zealand.

Study Options

Mixed Mode: You will be required to attend a 4-hour tutorial and complete up to 30 hours of study in your own time per week as well as attend set wananga/workshops.

Entry Details

To be enrolled in this course, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Be a New Zealand resident
  • Successfully complete our selection process, involving an information seminar and interview
  • Be committed to completing the course
