Once you have completed this qualification, you may choose to study towards a diploma or degree in business at another tertiary institution (entry criteria may vary).

OVERVIEW

Are you currently a business owner or have you recently completed a business plan? If so, and you are ready to grow your business, then this course is for you! This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to develop and implement strategies/action plans to achieve business development goals for your business. Modules within this course focus on:

  • business development analysis;
  • business implementation projects; and
  • business reports and presentation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this course will be able to apply an advanced understanding of how to develop and implement business strategies and development projects. This course is suited to the self-employed as well as to a wide range of careers, especially those that involve managerial decision-making.

Entry Details

To be enrolled in this course, you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age;
  • be a New Zealand resident;
  • demonstrate, via an interview/questionnaire, that you have a sound knowledge of your business; and
  • meet at least one of the following three criteria:
  1. be a graduate of the Certificate in Small Business Management Level 4 or equivalent; and/or
  2. possess a suitable business plan that is available for review by a kaiako/tutor; and/or
  3. be already operating a business.

Delivery Mode

Contact-mode: One three-hour session per week (usually in the evening) for Weeks 1-22 and two three-hour sessions for weeks 23 and 24. Students will also be entitled to 12 hours of one-on-one mentoring with their kaiako/tutor.
